Q is a recording artist/ producer based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Starting his musical journey with his band Johnny Cradle, Q has been merging hip-hop, reggae and African soul influences to inform his songwriting, production style and vocal delivery to deliver genre ambiguous but emotionally engaging soundtracks.

 

Since his first official offering, the 2017 Johnny Cradle Just Music published self-titled debut album, Q has performed many of the big festivals in South Africa including Oppikopi, Rocking The Daisies, Basha Uhuru, Afropunk's "Planet Afropunk" and many others.

 

Since taking a break from his band in 2018, Q began writing new music that would be less of the aggressive and in your face style with raging electric guitar riffs to a sexier laid back mood of Fender Rhodes chords and moody piano melodies centered around heavy dub inspired bass lines led by a more introspective and personal style of lyric.
